After most of my house had gone through major renovations and the master bathroom was nearing completion I knew it was time to tackle my bedroom. The master bedroom in this house is rather small, in my last house it was huge and I always thought of it as wasted space. While I’d love a larger closet space I’m ok with the small—ish master bedroom. I selected the paint color for the bathroom during that remodeling project and picked the same color for the bedroom in a different finish. The color is Passive by Sherwin Williams at 30%. It’s a light light grey with a calming feel.
My intention for this area was to create a simple and relaxing vibe. Since I seem to be obsessed with shades of grey and white these days that was the natural direction. I found the headboard online and began the search for bedding. Nothing…I couldn’t find anything I liked for a few months. Generally I don’t love a lot of color, especially orange, but I kept going back to this bedding and finally decided to order it.
Right after the bedding was ordered I stumbled upon these lamps on clearance at HomeGoods. After 2 years I’m still going back and forth on changing the shades. Every time I bring a new shade home to try I don’t like it so these might be here to stay and I’m ok with them so that’s a plus.
The pillow on the chair was intended for the bed, I ordered it when the order for the rest of the bedding was placed but I happened to find the other orange and white pillow and like how that one looks on the bed better. This one fits well in the chair too.
Keeping it simple, 3 vintage windows hang above the bed. I love that they are all a slightly different shade of white and cream and they are perfectly chippy for the farmhouse vintage lover in me. Two of them were already in the house and the third one was found at one of the Junk in the Trunk events in Scottsdale. There are always lots of good treasures at those events, if you are in the area you should check them out, you are sure to find unique items you will love.
That’s all that is hanging on the walls in the entire room besides a large mirror and a tv. You can get a glimpse of the mirror in this shot of my bathroom.
You can also see that I carried the splash of color — orange — into the bathroom as well. Do you want to see the bathroom too? I’ll share it in another post soon. To keep the organs constant I also have an orange throw on the bed.
This little orange box is sitting nicely on the dresser. It’s pretty and functional, always a win by me.
I put a storage ottoman at the foot of the bed. It’s also from HomeGoods. It stores extra linens and the throw and pillows when the bed is not made. The european shams are placed on top each night, makes for easy access to quickly make the bed each morning.
When I went in the bedroom to snap these pictures I found someone taking a mid afternoon nap. That’s Kirby. He is a two year old German Shorthair Pointer. Can you tell that he is not supposed to be on the furniture?!? Kirby isn’t always the best rule follower but he sure is sweet.
Even though I made him get down he kept sneaking back in. He really loves this bed, so do I.
Thanks for stopping by my master bedroom tour. I hope you enjoyed it. For more information about the bedding and pillows click on the images below. I’m happy to see that they are still available to purchase. What’s your favorite way to decorate a bedroom?
Oh, one more thing. Here is a picture of the room when I purchased the house…just so you can see how far it has come. Plus, I will always love a good before and after!
